Believe it or not, the spring/ summer sports season is right around the corner here in Colorado. If you have a child on a team that is looking to have pictures done, contact me and I’ll add you to my calendar. For a small retainer, I will dedicate an entire game to your team, and get pictures that will make all of the parents beam with pride.

One thing I am thinking of doing is setting up a mobile operation to capture, print and sell photos at summer sporting events. Baseball and softball are the youth sports I am most familiar with, and we have plenty of leagues and tournaments here in Colorado during the spring and summer. I know that in order to do this, I would need a laptop, power inverter, and good inkjet printer. I haven’t used an inkjet to make prints since I stopped using my HP Photosmart 7350 a few years back. I wasn’t serious about photography then, and the ink was drying up before I could use it all. Obviously that has changed now.
So for those of you that print at home, I would love to hear your recommendations on a good inkjet printer for this type of thing. Comment on this post, or shoot me an email.
I coached little league baseball for the past 5 years. This is my first season since as a spectator. I am enjoying my ‘retirement’. Now I can just focus on taking the pictures and not having to worry about signs, if the runner is going to get caught stealing, if my pitcher is about to have a meltdown, or what the parents think about my decisions (I never really worried about that last one too much come to think of it).
So what have I learned in my ‘retirement’? I want “bigger” glass and a faster body, something that can handle 6fps or more. Sports is all about speed (or the sports I am interested in anyway), and 2.5 or 3 fps just doesn’t get all the action. A fall on a wakeboard, or a slide into home – these things take place in fractions of a second. It’s all good though, I will get the most I can out of my current setup until the budget says it’s time to upgrade.

Introducing Team Sports Services
I am very excited to announce that 2010 will be the year I begin offering team photography services for local youth sports organizations and teams. Just in time for the 2010 Jefferson County Junior Baseball League season, I have developed special package pricing that is more focused on value to the family, while providing great products that the athletes and families alike will cherish.
I am a local photographer who spent five years coaching in the Lakewood Junior Baseball organization, with my 5th year as head coach. It was always a challenge for me to coach while wanting to get great pictures of the kids. Now I am able to focus completely on getting great pictures of the kids, be it at practice, in a league game, or in a tournament.
For more information or to contact me with specific questions, please see the Team Sports Photography page. Every player deserves a great photo, and I will deliver that.
